21st Century Genocide Ignored

The genocide in Darfur previously published on this site has continued unabated and largely ignored since 2003.  The IOC was recently called to task by Dream for Darfur for its refusal to act.

NEW YORK, NY, April. 16, 2008 – With the 2008 Games less than four months away, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today received an “F” in a new report card grading the IOC’s responsiveness to the genocide in western Sudan. The report was released by Dream for Darfur, a New York-based human rights group.

What can be done?  Learn and take action, any action.

I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.
